Freedom of expression caveat, criticised by pressure groups and some Labour MP's.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-jeremy-corbyn-antisemitism-ihra-jewish-israel-palestine-statement-latest-updates-a8522806.html Labour adopts IHRA antisemitism definition in full. The National Executive Committee of the Labour Party have now adopted the complete IHRA definition of antisemitism and its examples. The NEC has also added its own caveat stating that, “this does not in any way undermine the freedom of expression on Israel and the rights of Palestinians”. All very right proper. However, as I have recently stated, no matter what concessions are made, in this case accepting the full IHRA definition, the baying hordes will always come back for more. True to form within minutes of the NEC meeting coming to a close, the pressure group Labour Against Antisemitism, closely followed by Labour Friends of Israel waded in describing the “freedom of expression” statement as “a get out of jail card”, and "the NEC has been told repeatedly that it

Jewish Labour Movement Conference attracts widespread media coverage.,

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/sep/02/gordon-brown-labour-ihra-antisemitism-definition-nec-vote Labour should adopt IHRA's definition of semitism says Gordon Brown. The Jewish Labour Movement held a 1 day conference on Sunday (2nd September). Conferences for this organisation are not usually reported in the media or on television, but yesterday's conference was an unique exception. From morning to evening there were blanket coverage reports on Sky News and BBC News, with numerous people giving interviews, and today's Front Pages carry long reports of speeches made by others during the day. You might wonder why a conference only usually reported in the Jewish Chronicle suddenly attracts the attention of all this country's media and television News programmes. A spokesperson from Progress, (the pressure group within the Labour Party), was the first to appear before the camera's giving his comments about how the Labour party was wro

Another former MP joins the witch hunt

Jeremy Corbyn must show he understands why British Jews fear his leadership Following on from my Blog of yesterday, Ed Balls today leaps in with his article in the Telegraph, saying "Jeremy Corbyn must show he understands why British Jews fear his leadership". You remember Ed Balls. He is Mr Yvette Cooper and is now more famous for his Strictly Come Dancing performance, his cookery "skills" in the Great Sport relief Bake off and his televised trip to the United States, Travels in Trumpland with Ed Balls, where, dressed in some sort of leotard he enga ged in a professional all in wrestling performance.  Balls is another one of those former MP's more closely associated with Blair and his "New Labour" experiment and has never shown any support for Jeremy Corbyn. It is therefore not surprising that he now joins the bandwagon of criticism from that part of the Labour party, using the "antisemitism" row as an excuse. Few people li

The "antisemitism" argument is just an excuse.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/sep/01/david-blunkett-calls-for-corbyn-project-rethink Labour needs 'seismic change' or party will fall into decline  Watching the newspaper previews on television last night, one of the reviewers made a comment which was certainly missed, probably by design, by his co previewer and the presenter and I should think by many of the viewers at home. The story under review was the Telegraph front page coverage of Baron Blunkett's intervention in the on going "anti semitism" row within the Labour party. The reviewer commented, as many of us have remarked on in the past, that all the criticism leveled at the party leadership on this issue, has originated from that section commonly described as the Blairite wing of the Labour party. Blunkett argues "Either Jeremy Corbyn can lead a party into gradual decline and irrelevance, or demonstrate that he can lead a party fit for Government", much i

The first of the "Usual Suspects" resigns party whip..

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/30/frank-field-resigns-labour-whip-over-antisemitism-crisis Frank Field resigns Labour whip over antisemitism crisis The first of the "high profile" usual suspects to break cover and resign. He says he will sit as an independent rather than do the honourable thing, step down completely and stand as an independant (or even something else perhaps) in a bye election, and allow the electorate of Birkenhead make the decision. Field has for some time been looking for an excuse to resign from the PLP to cause the maximum embarrassment to the party leadership and the manufactured "antisemitism row" has provided such an opportunity. He will of course continue to receive his MP's salary together with any other perks on offer. This may have had some bearing on his decision not to force a bye election. Frank Field has always been on the far right of the Labour party and has been a critic of Jeremy Corb

Former chief rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks joins the witch hunt

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/28/corbyns-comments-most-offensive-since-enoch-powell-says-ex-chief-rabbi Corbyn's comments most offensive since Enoch Powell, says ex-chief rabbi. Former chief rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks has called Jeremy Corbyn an anti semite. He states that the comments, made by Corbyn over 5 YEARS AGO (another resurrected smear) are the most offensive since Enoch Powell made the "rivers of blood" speech in 1968. It is ironic that comments made by Corbyn in meetings and at rallies and other places only now, after many years, become "offensive" to some people. Hodge, Berger, Gapes and others wait many years to vent their indignation and  venom. They clearly realised that there was no advantage in attacking a "back bench" MP since nobody really cared about the member for Islington North. However, now that the member has become the leader of the Labour party it serves their collective agenda to resurrect comme

Descending into farce.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1008833/labour-anti-semitism-jeremy-corbyn-labour-mps-labour-conference Labour anti-Semitism row EXPLODES as Jewish MPs offered BODYGUARDS at party conference The hysterical "antisemitism row" within the Labour party is descending into farce. This latest story reports that Jewish Labour MP's "could" be given bodyguards brought in to shield Jewish delegates at next months Party Conference. How much of this story comes from a few Labour MP's and how much is a figment of the imagination of some Express "journalist", this time Macer Hall, is open to speculation. However, a mischievous media will always grasp any opportunity to undermine Labour generally and Corbyn in particular. This pantomime, fuelled and encouraged by a hostile press, has only one objective, which is to remove the leadership of the Labour party. It is a campaign which will ultimately backfire but which will become even mor

New Agenda on Sunday is out! Edition of August 25th 2018

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone. We went into ASDA the other day for the first time in a long time. Only needing a few small items, we very soon went to the check out. What surprised me was the number of "self serve" checkout tills. Certainly there were more than the last time we were in the store and quite a few people were going through them, but there were still queues at the tills where there was an operator. Now, I do not have a degree in rocket science and as I have had experience of the "self serve" previously, we went to the other check out and joined the queue. When we eventually reached the  point of paying I got into a conversation with the woman at the till and mentioned that there were more self serve machines than the last time we were in and that we are not great fans of this relatively new phenomenon. Neither was she apparently and nor are her colleagues in the store. Moreover she stated that ASDA were installing

Another Labour MP joins the witch hunt

Luciana Berger attacks Jeremy Corbyn Luciana Berger has posted a Tweet criticising Jeremy Corbyn of "making inexcusable comments" in a 2013 clip video, filmed at a London conference. A 5 year old clip now grasped by Berger to launch yet another "antisemitic" criticism at the Labour Leader. Presumably, Berger is choosing the 23rd August to post the tweet as we have heard nothing from Margaret Hodge for over a week, and Berger feels that it is time to poke another stick into the hole just to keep up the offensiv e. Naturally, the tweet has been seized upon by the Mail to continue their war against Labour in general and Corbyn in particular, and to add the usual embellishments, whether true or not to their "story" to appeal to their usual readers and to Sky News. The tweet has prompted the usual suspects to come out from the shadows again to support the MP for Liverpool Wavertree and spout the customary threat to resign. I for one am getting very

Saudi led coalition kill more children in Yemen.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/24/world/middleeast/un-saudi-airstrike-yemen-children.html Saudi-led Airstrike Killed at Least 22 Yemeni Children The Saudi Arabian government seems to have implemented a new policy for their coalition forces involved in the Yemen civil war. Simply put, they seem to believe that if they kill enough Yemeni children, there will be no adults around to resist their brutally barbaric and inhuman regime and its aggressive intervention in other countries. This is the second attack on children in two weeks in a civil war which had already killed thousands of civilians in the Saudi led coalition  airstrikes over the past three years. The munitions used against these civilians is predominantly supplied by the United Kingdom and the United States as Saudi Arabia is a close ally in the war against terrorism. Hypocrisy in its most crass form. How long will it be before criticism of the Saudi Arabian government is silenced in the same way as cr

Will they all spare us the agony and just go!

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-antisemitism-jeremy-corbyn-mike-gapes-quit-parlty-a8507886.htm Labour MP "agonising" over whether to leave the party. Will they, won't they? The wringing of hands and rolling of eyes pours out from yet another MP who is "agonising" over leaving the party. The constant almost daily indecisive dithering from the usual suspects as to whether they will or not leave, is of course food and drink to the media who will grasp at any and every opportunity to discredit and undermine the party and its leadership in their fear driven quest to prevent a Corbyn government. In this, those MP's "quavering" on the edge of resignation, are either by accident or more probably design, assisting the inept Tory government to remain in power and fueling the constant barrage from the media in their witch hunt against Labour. The honourable thing for these people to do is spare the rest

The decline of a household name.

Marks and Spencer is going downhill. Is it only me, or have others noticed how the standards of service and the quality of the goods have deteriorated in Marks and Spencer, particularly over the last 12 months? I refer specifically to the Marks and Spencer in Weymouth, but I assume that the same circumstances are to be found in other M & S stores around the country. There seems to have been an exodus of staff from the Weymouth branch over the past few months and those that remain and the new replacements, are on the whole sullen and unhelpful giving the impression that they would rather be somewhere else and that customers are an irritation in the working day. We used to shop regularly in the store for clothes and accessories, but the quality of the product lines has deteriorated to such an extent that we now rarely bother to look for trousers, shirts, tops or slacks. As for the food hall, the less said the better. The quality of the food lines has sunk to such

A "newspaper" sinking in the depths of slime.

A 16 year old Photograph which shows nothing. The Mail is finding even more dust covered photographs in their rat infested cellars, with which to attempt to discredit Corbyn. Today's offering is a photograph of Corbyn at a Pro Palestinian rally in London, allegedly sharing the platform with Leila Khaled (albeit that you may not be able to find her in the photo, I couldn't) and others. The rally took place in 2002 over 15 years ago. The Mail is a right wing rag with no morals, scruples or shame and deserves to be shut down. The only thing to say about this fascist comic is that they are at least employing someone to work in their cellars, sifting through photographs and articles looking for items to continue their disgraceful campaign against the leader of the Labour party. It is not known if the poor individual working amongst the rats and spiders is being paid the minimum wage. We can however guess who pays the editorial staff and the owner, and

The time for appeasement is over

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/16/labour-antisemitism-row-unite-boss-accuses-jewish-leaders-of-truculent-hostility Unite boss accuses Jewish leaders of 'truculent hostility' Len McCluskey could well be right, but the fact is that no matter how far the Labour party leans over backwards to appease these individuals and groups, they will always come back for more concessions and more domination.Their intention is and has always been the removal of Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour leadership of which they disapprove. The evidence for this view is compelling with a daily smear offensive in the media led by the Mail, Express and Telegraph and Sky and BBC News from our televisions. At last the Labour party has made a complaint to the press regulator, naming the Daily Mail, Sun, Times, Telegraph, Express and Metro. The time is long overdue when the lies and distortions of the media should be challenged, but at least this is a start. Personally, I would

The worst leader since Ramsay MacDonald adds his contribution.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/gordon-brown-says-jeremy-corbyn-13086426 Gordon Brown says Jeremy Corbyn 'has got to change'  Gordon Brown, one of the worst Leaders of the Labour party since Ramsay MacDonald, and Prime Minister simply because Tony Blair stood down, eventually completing his part of the "Granita deal", says that Jeremy Corbyn has got to change. Brown, very vocal in his criticism of Corbyn during and after two leadership elections, joins Blair in arguing that the Labour party should follow them and return to the "good old days" when the party belonged to a small cabal of the PLP and an even smaller group in their cabinets where everything was "top down" and criticism was frowned upon as being divisive. (Now that is Stalinist. A small comment for Christina Patterson who recently said that "Corbyn is a Stalinist anti semite".) Brown and particularly Blair have made significant amounts of m

"McCarthyism" in the 21st Century

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/aug/14/labour-calls-claims-about-corbyn-palestinian-cemetery-visit-false The hypocrisy of the media is breathtaking.  The media campaign has reached beyond hysteria. The labour party describes the claims about Corbyn's visit to the Palestinian cemetery in Tunis as "false and misleading ". Perhaps a better description would be "lies and scurrilous smear". With Sky News running the same story as practically their lead item on every bulletin , closely followed by the BBC News adding their contribution to the witch-hunt, the media generally has sunk to depths never before seen in British journal ism. The latest disgraceful offering was the front page of yesterday's Daily Mail, which published the most despicable and reprehensible cover, which even by the contemptible standards normally associated with this rag of a "newspaper" was the most loathsome we have seen to date. The arguments supporti
