New Agenda on Sunday. is out! Edition of 15th October 2017

Good morning everyone.

Last week, the Daily Express was forecasting "heavy snow". They were wrong (again) it is, in fact a hurricane. Well, almost a hurricane as it "barrels" (why do the media use that word?) across the Bay of Biscay, heading towards Ireland. By the time it reaches County Cork and Kerry, sometime early on Monday morning, it will have lost its category 2 status and be "no more than" a severe storm. The South West will feel the effects of the 90mph winds and heavy rain, so if you live in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset etc, the advice is batten down the hatches and stop buying the Express.
Prime Minister Theresa May, completed the "hat trick" on Wednesday at "Questions to the Prime Minister". Following the disaster Turin speech and the even worse speech to Conservative party Conference, Theresa May probably came to the Commons with high expectations of dealing heavy blows to the Labour opposition with the support of a united cabinet and the baying, howling ranks of backbenchers as is normal at PMQ's behind her. Alas, in this expectation she will have been sadly disappointed

The road outside our cottage is quite narrow being no more than 12-15 feet wide (I do not and have never used the metre/centimetre nonsense) before it reaches the bank of the brook which eventually runs into the sea at WestBay about 6 miles away (I do not use kilometres either).
The road, according to the Post Office and all official bodies, is named "Main Street" though I defy anyone to find a sign to that effect as it is a very small village and is probably no more than a hamlet. The village is surrounded by farmland and is subject to the usual farm traffic which is normal for rural areas. However, over the past few weeks and certainly becoming even more noticeable over recent days, the tarmac road surface has disappeared beneath a layer finely chopped straw or hay covering which has been discharged from the large tractor drawn trailers passing at approximately three minute intervals on their way to and from some dumping ground at the Bus stop end of the village.

Bus stop
(Bus stop-Yes. Buses-No). This hay or straw covering, which is only marginally less offensive that the animal slurry which also frequently covers the road, becomes wet and sticky when it rains and then hardens off ready to receive the next days dumping to be dragged onto paths and into houses despite using the mats outside the front door. I appreciate that in rural areas this may be a common occurrence, but surely there must be a by law somewhere in the ancient laws which can prevent or control the excesses of this nuisance.

I am becoming increasingly irritated by the finger glued to thumb gesture from the blonde/sand coloured hair (just about covering the grey), orange coloured skin megalomaniac who currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington,  DC.
Following reports of the most recent temper tantrum reverberating around the corridors of the White House, Donald Trump appeared on television screens around the world ranting about how evil Iran is and how they are reneging on their commitments to the Iranian Nuclear Agreement.

There is something very strange about the Conservative party. As each day passes, "several Tory MP's and even the DUP urge Theresa May to sack...........", somebody or other. The latest is the Chancellor Philip Hammond joining the list of Johnson, Schaps, Rudd, Davis, and others who over the past few days alone have incurred the wrath of one or other of the factions fighting for control of the corpse of the conservative party. Theresa May should do the decent thing and sack the lot of them, herself included and call a general election.

After the strong winds and heavy rain, the predictions are that things will calm down, but become colder. However, avoid the Express as they are still carrying "Hurricane Ophelia: Troops on standby in UK & Ireland as Met Office warns of DANGER TO LIFE"

Have a nice week

Northern Ireland and Brexit. The return of "The Troubles"

Northern Ireland: police attacked in another night of disturbances | Northern Ireland | The Guardian When the "Brexit" debate was still filling our newspapers and our television screens, readers may remember why I had changed my mind since voting to leave at the referendum vote. Apart from the economic arguments, which had become crystal clear after peeling away all the lies and misrepresentations trotted out by Bozo Boris and his "Get Brexit Done" conspirators, there was always the problem of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Would it be possible to have a border between the European Union and the United Kingdom where people, goods and services could pass freely between the two nations without customs restrictions, tariffs, duties and all the other formalities? Would it be possible to have one part of the United Kingdom treated differently from other parts of the United Kingdom, particularly when Scotland for example had voted overwhe

The Parliamentary Labour Party conspirators are hatching another coup.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/corbyn-labour-leadership-rebel-mps-a7202641.html Labour MPs plan for Corbyn victory  and plot how to confront an emboldened leader Even for the "Independent", the number and use of unnamed anonymous "sources" in this article is quite astonishing. However, amongst all the usual speculative delusion, there is one factor which causes concern to anyone who believes in the Labour Party, its principles and in he democratic process of the Labour movement. It is abundantly clear that elements within the Parliamentary Labour Party, are even now, planning another coup in the event that Jeremy Corbyn should emerge as winner in the current ballot. The failed coup of earlier this year, has now descended into a sham leadership election, because the conspirators still fail to accept the democratic decision of the Labour party membership and cling to

Plemont development or return to nature?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-  A date has been set for a public inquiry into plans for Plemont Headland. This exceptional location must be sold to the National trust for Jersey, and returned to nature. Any other outcome involving development of the site, can only demonstrate the extent to which greed and self interest have become endemic in Jersey.
