Taking loyalty to the extreme.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/aug/30/ministers-nick-clegg-paddy-ashdown Paddy Ashdown , the former Liberal Democrat leader, has made an impassioned plea for party members to avoid "short-term personal manoeuvring" and to stand by Nick Clegg after the first open revolt against his leadership.   Loyalty may be admirable but this is really pushing it to the boundaries. Urging party members to avoid "short-term personal manoeuvring" and to stand by Nick Clegg demonstrates a remarkable lack of judgement and brings into question Ashdown's grasp of political reality. Clegg is a liar, hypocrite and self seeking individual who has prostituted every principle the Liberal democrats may have once had. As a post from one person commenting on this article suggests, Stand behind Nick Clegg, " And push very hard".

Wetest for 100 years.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/aug/30/rain-chaos-summer-wettest-years  Forecasters have confirmed what many suspected: summer 2012 in England and Wales has been the biggest washout for a century.   Let us hope that this is the right type of rain to enable us to avoid the water companies imposing a hosepipe ban next year. However, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we will be presented with the water companies spokesperson saying that "water prices will have to go up due to the additional demands on our resources during the heavy rain in 21012".

Clegg: Froth and no substance.

http://news.sky.com/story/978184/nick-clegg-wants-super-rich-to-pay-more-tax  Nick Clegg has called on Britain's wealthiest to make an "extra contribution" to the "national effort" of economic recovery. Another meaningless soundbite from super hypocrite and traitor Clegg, full as usual of  froth and no substance. Who are "Britain's wealthiest"? Does he mean the large corporations, making £billions of  profits? Does he mean the Utility companies making £billions from ripping off their customers with ever increasing prices? Does he mean the banks who's greed and corruption places them in the position of demonstrating that crime does pay and very handsomely too? Or does he mean Mr and Mrs average who have the audacity to have an annual income of more than £50K?  This waste of space Clegg should really do everyone a favour and give up his day job, retire to the country and grow roses.

NO to Heathrow runway 3

http://news.sky.com/story/978020/heathrow-runway-delay-bad-for-business  Capacity constraints at Heathrow Airport are restricting the UK's economic potential, a report by MPs has said.    "Bad for business" !  Never mind the hundreds  of homes that would be demolished to make way for this monstrosity. Never mind the disruption to peoples lives with the increased pollution from noise, traffic and transport congestion. Never mind the devastating effect on the environment and wild life in the area. This and more is of little consequence to the business must come first lobby. For far too long, people have been dominated, abused and dismissed by the greed and self interest of the business community. The argument that developments such as the third runway at Heathrow is good for the economy, as it will bring jobs and increased trade opportunities has always been a load of garbage generated by the business community to conceal their real objective of genera

Weymouth in decline.

http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/9893687.Top_retailer_quits_Weymouth_town_centre/?ref=mr WEYMOUTH’S high street has been dealt another blow as it is revealed a major retailer will leave town after more than 25 years. Never mind the "Olympic legacy". Weymouth is dying. Charity shops and "here today, gone tomorrow" shops, in many cases selling only tack and cheap rubbish do nothing for the town. There will soon be yet another "To let" sign in St Mary Street.

A Labour Lib Dem coalition ? Not for me.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/aug/26/peter-hain-labour-lib-dems Peter Hain says Labour should get ready to do business with Lib Dems I have never had a great amount of time for Hain, as it seems to me that he has always tried to fill the all things to all men role, changing his position as often as he changes his socks. "Blair was a good guy, Brown was a good guy, Milliband (David) was a good guy, (oops, he lost to his brother so) Milliband (Ed) is a good guy" does not demonstrate a consistent view. Now, Hain proposes a classic rightist option of getting into bed with a bunch of hypocrites and their leader who has prostituted himself and his party for a grubby chance of power. Hain now suggests that Labour should do exactly the same thing as Cameron did after the last election, and make a sordid grab for a majority in the commons, just to gain occupation of number 10. He should remember the "Gang of 4", and probably should have followed th

The "Holocaust". A justification for aggression.

http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/08/26/auschwitz-how-relevant-is-it-in-todays-society/ "Holocaust"How relevant is it in today’s society? The relevance of the "Holocaust" is diminished every time it is used as a justification or reason for another act of aggression by Israel against Palestinians or some other neighbour. The "Holocaust Card" has been played by successive Israeli governments since 1948 in order to generate a collective guilty conscience in the outside world with the purpose of giving credibility to the "right to self defence" argument, so favoured with numerous government spokespersons. As  former Israeli Minister Shulamit Aloni stated in an interview on Democracy Now, " We always pull out the holocaust/anti-semitic trump card ". (You Tube video). Using the Holocaust as a justification for aggression against others is an insult to those who died during the Nazi period, be they Jews, Gypsies

A self-fulfilling prophecy

http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/9889734.Weymouth_Bayside_Festival_Organisers_apologise_for_flop/?ref=mr ORGANISERS of the failed Bayside Festival have apologised for leaving people out of pocket. Joe Hall, managing director of Mainsail, the company that ran the stricken venture, spoke to the Echo as administrators for his firm announced it will go into voluntary liquidation at the end of the month. from DORSET ECHO: 19th July 2012.   " Weymouth and Portland Olympic travel advice row It comes after hoteliers and traders told the Echo that radio adverts telling people the area will be congested has put visitors off. Weymouth taxi driver Eddie Hawkins fears the ‘fiasco’ will destroy summer-time trade as people will be put off from coming to the area at all. He said: “The council have been telling people not to come in their cars and now South West trains are telling them to drive as the trains will be busy. It is absolutely ludicrous. This

The Smokescreen to hide a Conspiracy

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/08/21/craig-murray-names-assange-rape-victim-newsnight_n_1815200.html?utm_hp_ref=uk An outrageous and vile example of how the media and some other individuals are attempting to turn public opinion away from the main issue of this whole argument and substitute Swedish allegations of a "crime" which had already been dismissed by the authorities some time ago. It was only recently that these "allegations" were reopened by two individual Swedish officials for the sole purpose of getting Assange back to Sweden where he could be extradited to the United States. If these individuals wish to question him let them come to Britain. This is NOT about allegations of rape, it is about,  Assange being EXTRADITED from Sweden and together with  Manning, being put on show trial in the United States. THE SMOKESCREEN BEING GENERATED BY THE MEDIA OF PRESS AND TELEVISION TO HIDE THE CONSPIRACY BETWEEN THE UNITED KINGDOM, SWEDEN AND THE UNITED

Now, British media with Britain and Sweden in the service of the USA

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2190913/Julian-Assange-compared-John-Inman-character-speaking-Ecuador-embassy-new-haircut.html The whole of the "Media" press and television, are doing everything possible to blacken Julian Assange and his refuge in the embassy. The whole "media circus" is a not very subtle assault designed to shift  public opinion towards removing him from the embassy and consigning him to Sweden where he can be grabbed by the United States for another show trial. If the Swedish authorities are so desperate to interview Assange, they should come to Britain to ask their questions and drop the requests for extradition. Then any suspicion that Britain and Sweden are conspiring with the United States would be removed. Regardless of all the media hype and hysterical distortions to the contrary, the credibility of the allegations (no charges have yet been made) grows weaker every day. This whole situation is farcical and is perpet

A stained glass window for St Tony Blair?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2190395/A-stained-glass-window-St-Tony-Blair-Do-come-.html A comedian managed to walk past armed police and film inside Tony Blair’s home as part of a new satirical BBC series. This poor wretch has been the subject of vilification and scorn (and rightly so, in my opinion) for long enough. He should be allowed to retire gracefully to spend his autumn years in a softly lit room in a very quiet building in the country, contemplating his deeds over the years since parachuting in to destroy the Labour party. He could create his own version of history and write a book full of fairy tales and quests for the lost dragons of WMD. Perhaps in this way, we could be spared of his popping up with monotonous regularity in some story or other in our newspapers. In the case of the Daily Mail, I use the word "Newspaper" in its widest possible context.

Ignorant, self opinionated bastards.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tories-britons-among-worlds-idlest-workers-8057360.html The British are among the world's idlest workers, according to five up-and-coming Tory MP's. Kwasi Kwarteng, Priti Patel, Dominic Raab, Chris Skidmore and Elizabeth Truss, Ignorant, self opinionated bastards. The very essence of why the Tories have and will always be, the enemies of working people (and of the sick, disabled and pensioners) in this country. As long as evil morons such as these five exist and continue to spurt their pernicious venom, the Class war will endure and I for one will continue to oppose them.

Britain and Sweden in the service of the USA

http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/assange-granted-asylum-what-happens-now/ Shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday, Ecuador announced that it had granted political asylum to Julian Assange.Twenty minutes later, the UK foreign office responded by restating its threat to extract Assange from the Ecuadorean embassy in London. Ecuador has requested that Assange be given safe passage out of the embassy, while the UK has said it will arrest him as soon as he sets foot outside the building. So what happens now? Tariq Ali suggested that Ecuador should grant Assange citizenship, and appoint him to a diplomatic post in the London embassy. Julian would then have full diplomatic immunity and could freely leave this country. Seems like a good idea to me. Hague and the government together with the Swedish government are blatantly Kow Towing to demands from the United States to do everything they can to get Julian Assange to America. It is outrageous, sickening and clearly obvious to al

The "Beautiful Game"

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/comment/simon-english-if-man-united-shares-get-any-lower-expect-glazers-to-grab-first-chance-of-an-exit-8038685.html  No one thinks the Glazers have any interest in football or the desires of the fans. They want to make cash, and have done so. Football in this country died when money became more important than talent. At one time, players would have pulled on a club, or country shirt and played for £20.00 per week, or in the case of country shirt probably for the price of getting to the stadium, but Jimmy Hill changed all that in 1961. The first question that a player asks today seems to be "Will my match fee cover a new Ferrari and I also need a new WAG?". However, I think that even Jimmy Hill would be appalled at the obscene amount of money sloshing around in the game today. Television rights running into £ billions, franchises in the same amounts, transfer fees,"floating clubs on the stock exchanges of the worl

Merkel and the Greeks.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/merkel-returns-from-holidays-and-wades-straight-into-eurozone-row-8038715.html Merkel returns from holidays and wades straight into Eurozone row. The demands of a German Chancellor seeking domination of Europe are well known. May she fare even worse than the last one.

Another Condor "engine problem".

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19232124 Condor Ferries delays after engine refit Here we go again. This type of ship seems to have had more than its fair share of "engine trouble" over the years. Back in the 1990's I remember a Condor Ferry out of Weymouth was running on only one engine for months as engineer's tried to repair it as the ship was on route. On more than one occasion, the ferry took 14 hours or more to travel from Weymouth to Jersey. Fortunately, if it can be called fortunate, the majority of ships my wife and I traveled on were only delayed by "a few" hours. Since then, there has been a series of problems annually, resulting in delays in both directions. I have always been of the opinion that this type of ferry, albeit that it substantially reduces the travelling time by sea, is probably not the best solution for the UK, Guernsey/Jersey/France routes. Perhaps I am a bit of a traditionalist but I would dearly

"Centres of excellence" argument, a fallacious load of garbage.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2187025/Nations-surgeon-backs-plan-axe-A-amp-E-wards-claiming-SAVE-lives.html   Nation's top surgeon backs plan to axe A&E wards claiming it will SAVE lives   Professor Norman Williams insists that the closure programme is good for the NHS's future.   Williams said creating specialist ‘centres of excellence’ would force patients  to travel further but would improve levels of care. The "centres of excellence" argument, coupled with "forcing patients to travel further, but will improve levels of care", has always been a fallacious load of garbage. The overcrowded public areas  and the overstretched resources of facilities and staff demonstrate that closing facilities at many units to create one facility at another location is only for the benefit of dogma and cost saving.

Rachel Corrie: April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003

http://rememberrachel.tumblr.com/ On August 28, 2012 at 9:00AM, the verdict in the civil suit filed against the State of Israel by the Corrie family is set to be announced.  As the verdict approaches, we want to use this moment to reflect on Rachel’s life and work and want to encourage you to act in remembrance of her.    On March 16, 2003, an IDF operation in the land between the Rafah refugee camp and the border with Egypt was engaged in clearing brush, which the IDF says is necessary to destroy hideouts and tunnels  Corrie was part of a group of seven ISM activists (three British and four US) attempting to disrupt the actions of Israeli bulldozers. Corrie, who had positioned herself in the path of a Caterpillar D9R armored bulldozer , was fatally injured. She was transported to a Palestinian hospital. Accounts vary as to whether she died at the scene, in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, or at the hospital.

Christine Lagarde with her latest contribution.

http://wideshut.co.uk/imf-chief-christine-lagarde-calls-for-further-loss-of-national-sovereignty/  International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, has called for Eurozone countries to hand over more of their sovereignty to the European Union Superstate and the international banking system. Lagarde has been quiet for a while. Now she crawls out from the woodwork with the latest  scheme to prop up inept politicians in the EU, and the duplicitous  banks who collectively caused this economic crisis in the first place. As usual, there is no consideration for the people of those countries who are being subjected to the evils of "austerity" in order to pay for the negligence and greed of others. Christine Lagarde, the self appointed "World Protector", and leader of the unelected "IMF Supreme Council" again bidding  for the dominant role on the world stage.

New "research".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2185962/Benefits-statins-exaggerated-best-way-prevent-heart-disease-study-claims.html The cholesterol-lowering drugs are taken by seven million people in the UK, costing the NHS £450million a year. Last week, it was the effects of eating egg yolks on blood vessels. Historically, we have had coffee is good/bad, oranges cause /help, statins are harmful/beneficial, get out/get in the sun, use/don't use high factor sun cream,  the list is endless and the "advice" varies depending upon whether there is an "R" in the month or from where the "advice" originates. These "experts" with there never ending, costly and time consuming "research" really aught to find something more productive to spend their time on. Perhaps counting the pebbles on Brighton beach to a depth of 5 feet, (I do not do metric), may be a useful project It seems to me that the cost to the NHS of £450 million

August 9th, 1945.

August 9, 1945, Nagasaki. At 11:02, local time, for the second time in history, a nuclear device was detonated over a city. According to statistics found later, the death toll from the atomic bombing totaled 73,884,as well as another 74,909 injured, and another several hundred thousand diseased and dying due to fallout and other illness caused by radiation. Only one nation has ever used nuclear weapons against the civilian population of another nation.  The following is from BBC "On This Day 1950 - 2005. 9th August" BBC News.   1945: Atom bomb hits Nagasaki American forces have dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki - the second such attack on Japan in three days. The bomb was dropped by parachute from an American B29 Bomber at 1102 local time. It exploded about 1,625 ft (500m) above the ground and is believed to have completely destroyed the city, which is situated on the western side of the Japanese island of Kyushu.

Laundering is not the only issue.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/british-bank-laundered-250bn-for-iran-regime-8010163.html Standard Chartered, one of Britain's most distinguished global banks, has been accused by US regulators of laundering $250bn from Iran and behaving like a "rogue institution", in the latest catastrophic blow to the international reputation of the City of London.   This issue is much wider than laundering $250bn from Iran, and it is not only restricted to American "persecution" of British banks. Whether we agree with the practice of sanctions against Iran or not, (and personally I do not as, in my view, it is the combined interests of Israel and the United States, dictating to the world, to further their own agenda's, but that is another debate),  the Banking "industry" seem to consider themselves to be above the law in their day to day business practices. There are numerous examples of sharp practice or even cri

August 6th 1945. 80,000 people were killed instantly and thousands more have died from injuries or illness attributed to the attack. Only one country has ever used nuclear weapons against the civilian population of another country.

Don't go to work on an egg.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/egg-yolks-linked-to-heart-disease-8007762.html   According to new Canadian research, the more egg yolks people eat, the worse the effect on blood vessels. I may be the only one, but I am getting extremely irritated by the almost daily outpouring of new "research findings"  from different bodies telling me that I should (or should not) drink this, or should not eat that, or should stop doing something or other etc etc, only for the "findings" to be completely contradicted the following week by even more "research findings" form another body. In this never ending stream of public information, the question is who is paying for these faceless experts to sit around drinking coffee, dunking "soldiers" into their egg yolks, and playing with their pencils until the next batch of meaningless useless thoughts spring into their heads?

The gates of Weymouth's Bayside Festival are closed

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-19108734     A major attraction that was a part of Weymouth's celebrations for the Olympic sailing events has closed after lower than expected visitor numbers.   The organisers of the Weymouth Bayside Festival have gone into liquidation. On Saturday, June 9th I wrote on "New Agenda" under the title " Can the Olympics work for Weymouth ?" that , " No matter what the pro Olympics publicity machine may churn out for public consumption, there is not as much enthusiasm for the extravaganza as they would like us to believe.". Sadly, the closure of this attraction, results in traders and employees being left out of pocket. One trader said, "It's been quiet in Weymouth since the beginning of the Olympics but now there's nothing going on at all." It seems that after all the pre games hype, reality is now beginning to dawn.

Saving money is the real reason.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2182388/Families-told-help-care-elderly-relatives-rely-NHS.html   Lord Darzi, said the state should ‘demand’ people take ‘greater responsibility’ for the health and social care of themselves and their families. The House of Lords, seems to be populated with pea brained morons who occasionally wake up from their almost  perpetual state of semi comatose slumber to issue words of meaningless, ill informed garbage, before slipping back into their torpid state to dream about their next method of claiming expenses. For the benefit of Darzi , to read on his next visit to the real world, the majority of families already help to care for their elderly relatives. For those families who do not, it is of little value for Darzi to stamp his foot and mumble that, " the state should ‘demand’ people take ‘greater responsibility" etc., without sharing with us what measures the state should use to ensure that this happens. If fam

Ministers plot end to Civil Service neutrality

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/ministers-plot-end-to-civil-service-neutrality-7995033.html Ministers could be given the power to dismiss their most senior civil servants and bring in US-style political appointees to drive through policy Another step in the insidious advance of dictatorship in this country. Not only are they not content with having a 5 year dictatorship voted in  by less than 40% of the people, they seek to install lackeys and henchmen into the civil service.Soon they will be seeking to scrap elections completely and all in the name of "modernisation" and "reform".
